command-runner-applet software package provides panel applet which periodically displays a command output, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install command-runner-applet
command-runner-applet is installed in your system.
Make ensure the command-runner-applet package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep command-runner-applet *
You will get with command-runner-applet package name, version, architecture and description in a table
